Mahsa Amini’s death is a horrible tragedy, and a clear violation of basic human rights. It has set off a series of large-scale protests across Iran, taking place in as many as 80 cities and leaving as many as 76 protestors dead, according to some sources.

Being such a young and vibrant community means it’s crucial for parents to be able to build both a family and a career, while also ensuring their children receive affordable and reliable early learning and child care services. That’s why I was so proud when, along with the provincial government, we announced in March that an agreement had been reached to support an average of $10-a-day licensed child care in the province, significantly reducing the price of child care for families.
